Our latest project in Shoreham 3916, involved transforming the comfort and usability of a residential space with the installation of six custom interior skylight Zipscreens. Designed to manage heat, glare, and changing conditions throughout the year, the solution combines advanced fabric technology with reliable motorisation for effortless control.
Designing for Sun Protective Factor
For this project, we selected Serge Ferrari’s Soltis Opaque B990 fabric in 50630, a white block-out material specifically suited to environments where thermal performance and light control are priorities. The fabric’s reflective properties help minimise heat gain from direct sunlight, improving indoor comfort while maintaining dimensional stability and long-term performance.
To complement the high-performance fabric, each skylight Zipscreen was motorised using Acmeda Rollease Automate motors. This integration allows the screens to be adjusted with ease, providing the homeowner with convenient control over natural light levels and temperature throughout the day.
Precision Installation with Multiple Moving Parts
Installing skylight Zipscreens requires careful planning and execution, and this project presented its own unique challenges. Due to the height and positioning of the skylights, scaffolding was required to safely access the installation points. The project also involved coordination with an electrician to complete the necessary electrical works for the motorised system.
With multiple trades, safety considerations, and technical elements involved, successful delivery relied on detailed planning and close collaboration. While there were plenty of moving parts (both literally and figuratively!) the result was a seamless shading solution that enhances comfort, efficiency, and the overall functionality of the space.
This installation is another example of how carefully selected materials, quality automation, and expert workmanship can come together to solve complex shading challenges.
